Rise & Fall of the Godless

ree

Separation from God is a Death Sentence

There is one undeniable fact of life and history has proven it over and over. Those nations that have walked away from God have fallen. Why? Many will try to say well there is not one simple answer to it. Others will say God has nothing to do with the fall of an empire. I humbly disagree with both premises. To me the answer is simple. The farther from a higher power you are, the less guard rails you have. Life becomes a conglomerate of individual moral relativism. Right and wrong don't exist. Once that happens those that have ill intent and the power to execute on that intent will do as they please at the expense of others. To me it is as simple as can be. When you live by a code that at its center is a just and meant to preserve well being then you set yourself up for success. Does that mean you won't have obstacles along the way? Of course not, but when those down times do come you are more likely to overcome them in a more timely fashion with less damage and prevent the strong taking advantage of the meek.

Let us look back in history at different points in time to reinforce the point I am trying to make. Since the Middle East has always been a hot spot let us start with the empires that shaped the landscape. The Sumerians, Babylonians, Assyrians, Persians, and Phoenicians all built great empires, each of which rose to glory in the Middle East (The Early Middle East [ushistory.org]). Although each of them brought some great innovation into the world, the one main storyline that ties all these empires together is war and losing their way from innovation to domination. They failed to use their greatness for preserving the empire and advancing it. They eventually lost their way and overtime could not overcome the pressure from all the enemies they made a long the way. The same can be seen from the Chinese and Indian empires of old. They used to be the top economic powers but lost their way. The Greeks and Romans is another remake of the same tragedy. Finally, looking at more recent attempts of ruling without a moral code, Nazis & Communism, you see the same rise by power, destroyers of life, and ultimate crumble.

It is my opinion the commonality of these empires is that they had no solid moral code that lasted to preserve life, to preserve a God of love. Maybe I am oversimplifying it. It seems that the world was in constant chaos where one nation had the strength to try to reign it in for a while, but never influenced the rest of the world to focus their energy on peace and constructive relations. Even the Jewish religion could not sustain their moral code and faith in God. Once owning the land of milk and honey to being dispersed and enslaved. Tribes to Judges and Kings led to humans trying to be God but in an evil way. Maybe it comes down to human nature of sin that prevents us from learning from our history and making the same fatal errors over and over.

It becomes understandable to me why God sent his only Son down to live among us to take our sins on his shoulders so that we would be saved. If not for this we would all be doomed to an end of our lives without hope or everlasting love.

Now you have the rise of ISIS that perverts religion to claim its right of dominance. Their barbaric actions are driven by evil and destruction. Good and building up is not their goal, but a feudal power grab of dominance by the few to rule over the many. It is the same good vs evil battle that has been seen many times in history. The question I have for all of you is will you be Chamberlin or Churchill? Will you be isolationist or crusaders? One fundamental question keeps coming to my mind. Why is it ok to intervene in Africa when women were getting raped and murdered but not when Christians are being beheaded? The answer in my mind again is simple. You should not look at individual conflicts from that surface of a level. The real question is what is morally right and what are the standards of life. Once you come to grips that whether my neighbor is next door, 10 miles away, or a continent away and you will help your neighbor against evil oppression, then choices like I gave above are simple to make.

Some do not want to be the world's policemen/women. I understand that. There are many ways to rally the world against evil other than committing troops and treasure. Some countries don't have troops but have treasure. Some don't have resources but have supportive services. Leaders look at the different talents they have to work with and assign roles and responsibilities to all to accomplish the tasks at hand. Good is in everyone's best interest politically, economically, and liberty... Whether I die in the fight over good vs evil means little to me. We all have a expiration date. What means more to me is can I look in a mirror and know that I not only talked the talk, but when my values were on the line I supported my Father in heaven not just for myself but for the world community.

Evil is real and has tried to divide the world community from God. It will be an endless struggle until we are mere ashes within history. Make each day count to further the benefits of what is right. Don't fundamentally transform our good nation. You have seen what happens in the world when America, the last place of hope for the world, sits on the sidelines. Leading from behind has only emboldened evil and made us look like a behind. We may have not asked to be the beacon of hope, but it is our destiny to be that light in the darkness. The example to the world that all races can live amongst each other in relative peace and advance through goodness, not evil dominance.

God Bless all of you!
